Who loves coffee? Energy drinks? Do you take pre-workout? Many of us drink a lot of these things that contain caffeine but are we being healthy about it? Personally, I was always assumed I was taking in way more caffeine that the recommended amount but never took the time to actually find out by how much.
It doesn't get shown much but I do have a deep interest in health and fitness. And even though all of my health and fitness knowledge is untraditional and learning mostly through YouTube and trial/error I have full confidence in my decisions regarding my health.
Spoiler alert, I was right and I do take in more caffeine than recommended.... double the amount!
My Justification
Ok so thats quite a bit more caffeine than FDA recommends...
1) I'm 6'3" 190 lbs, there's no way that I have the same recommended amount of caffeine than the average American which is like 5'9" 170 lbs or something. The caffeine has more space to cover? Like I said, untraditional health knowledge.
2) My work hours. The first half of the week I work a 9am-4pm advertising internship then the second half of the week and the weekend I bartend at a college bar anywhere from 4pm-12pm shifts or 7pm-3am shifts. Mostly the latter. There's no way I could be my best at those jobs without caffeine.
Ok, I know that last one sounds a like I am a little dependent on it..
