To Buy High-Priced Designer Clothes, Or To Not...

As I scrolled through the Fall '18 Givenchy Men's Collection I couldn't stop speaking out loud at how much these branded t-shirts, shorts, hoodies and men's jewelry were priced at. "Jesus." "Holy shit." "Sheesh." "Jeezuuus." $845 for some activewear/ gym shorts? Holy hell.

I really did love and want the things I was seeing but even after trying to persuade myself to buying them. I couldn't. Right now...

There's a time and place.

Hear me out.

I know, I know, I know. The collections that the brands in the above photo put out are insanely nice and clothes that we could all see ourselves rocking, but they can make the mentally and financially weak go broke. Knowing your own situation of money and money spending is how a confident decision can be made without buyer's remorse. If you have 1) the money to make a financially smart decision aka not sacrificing rent or other essential financial responsibilities and 2) you truly want a certain item for yourself, then I say go for it. But, if you can't confidently say that you have both of those things then it's time to rethink and maybe revisit the big purchase at another time.

In some situations like vacations or planned shopping trips I suggest making a shopping budget. This way, you will be able to look back and know that you stayed within your preset boundaries. That may mean instead of 10-12 low-moderate priced items, that you get 2 high-end designer items and a couple low-priced but still stylish tees or something. To those who are enticed by the latter option of maybe walking away with less items, it is a great feeling to know you have quality clothing that you are excited to flex a little bit. Nothing wrong with a little Instagram flexing as long as you aren't looking like this walking around whatever good ole' American city you live in.

Takeaways

IF YOU WANT THAT OVERPRICED AF SHIRT, HOODIE, WATCH, BRACELET, PURSE, ETC., AND CAN BE SMART WITH YOUR MONEY, DO IT AND ROCK IT WITH SOME CONFIDENCE.
